Training isn't the only method for ensuring workplace safety, according to Antis Roofing & Waterproofing CEO Charles Antis. Knowing your employees and sharing stories helps build a 'safe, strong' culture, he noted.

Workplace safety goes beyond just training, according to Charles Antis.

While the CEO of Antis Roofing & Waterproofing emphasized the importance of OSHA programs and NRCA ProCertification, he also discussed having a rapport with workers to ensure safety.

"Every day, we'll have like 40 job sites going on. And I have two guys on one site, four guys on one site, maybe 12 on another. . ." Antis said during an exclusive interview with Roofing & Exteriors. ". . .[I]f I want my people to be safe I need to get to know them, and that's what we do. We listen to our people, we know their stories.

"That's the biggest thing I can say to you is know your people," he continued. "Where are they, who are they. Know their story. Share your stories together—and that's how you build a safe, strong culture."

Antis also spoke about anticipated change and challenges on the horizon.

"We see disruption in the supply chain, we see all sorts of challenges and we see other businesses completely folded or reinventing themselves and so for us, we expect [that] this is going to be the most dynamic change period in our lifetimes," he said.

Additionally, Antis talked about ways to support employees, along with his company's charitable efforts, such as Ronald McDonald House Charities.
